My name is Rania and I am a first time mom that wants to share my experience so far with fellow moms out there!
So a little bit about me.. I am 26 years old and married. My husband and I decided to try for a baby last July thinking it would take months or even years. Luckily for us it happened right away! My pregnancy overall was fairly easy. Light morning sickness, some nausea, nothing too bad. We went in for our 20 week ultrasound to find out the sex and to check on how the baby as growing. Everything looked good, until she said the doctor was going to come in and talk to us and asked if I wanted my family ( who all came along to find out the sex) to hear what was going on. That 2 minutes waiting for the doctor was the longest wait of my life. The ultrasound tech kept saying everything looks good! So why now is there something wrong!
The doctor came in and told us that our son had a 2 vessel cord. He went on to tell us that babies are connected to the mom by the umbilical cord that is suppose to have 3 vessels for nutrients, waste and oxygen and my baby had only 2. So what does this mean?? Well he said it was somewhat common but the baby can have a heart defect or can stop growing, so he wanted me to come back every 6 weeks to check my baby’s growth and go in for a fetal echo to check his heart. And at the end said but he looks completely fine so don’t worry! Of course all I could do was cry and after we left, I immediately went online to search about this. My family tried to calm me down but I was just so scared!
So we went to the fetal echo which was an ultrasound that took a deeper look at his heart. Everything was good! Thank God. Next was the growth scans that I did every 6 weeks and he was growing perfect! Even with the good news I was constantly worried about him. Every doctors appointment, my doctor would say I looked really small and at 37 weeks ordered another growth scan cause she thought he stopped growing. Well he was growing just fine! So ladies if you look small don’t stress because that baby is growing just fine in there!
After all the precautions and extra ultrasounds (which I am thankful for!) my son was completely healthy! Roen Aramis was born on April 29,2019. My husband and I are completely obsessed with him 😍 he is truly perfect! And despite everyone, including my doctors saying how small I was, he weighed a healthy 6 lbs 15 ounces!
